Message from the President
The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County has been the leading and most respected voice for business in our region, first as the Medford Commercial Club from 1895 to 1919 as your local chamber of commerce since that time. So as we enter our 124th, or 100th year, of “Helping Business Succeed,” it is extremely pleasing to be able to report to you our strong organization as a result of our vibrant membership. In fact, I believe our members to be the most active membership in The Chamber's history.
Our membership represents nearly 40,000 of our region’s family members and friends, who are working very hard in more than 1,300 businesses. Membership is the lifeblood of any chamber of commerce. And, your Chamber continues to attract, and provide value to, new and existing members due largely to visionary volunteer leadership and a world-class staff who give practical application to our vital purpose and specific mission.
Just a few of these steps this year include a fresh coat of paint for our signature Forum series, which was kicked up several notches thanks to our friends at Asante. Building on our successful Employment Law Series with our partners from BBSI giving our members critical information in a more and more difficult environment in which to operate and taking our Travel Medford work of the last forty year to new heights. Finally, no Chamber year in which there is a full legislative session could go without mentioning The Chamber’s 24/7 work on behalf of your business and this region, to advocate for a pro-growth, prosperity for all, agenda and fight vigorously against burdensome “Job Killer” bills.
Our dynamic membership is joining us in the hard work of creating a stronger local economy, promoting the community, representing business issues through lobbying and political action and providing networking opportunities. I’m proud of our members and I’m proud of the good work of The Chamber.
All of these economy-building activities underline our justifiable claim to be the leading voice for business in our outstanding region. Your Chamber will continue to add services to its portfolio in an attempt to provide you the kind of added value every discerning company looks for before committing itself to any outside organizations. We have pledged to help transform our region’s economy, and we continue to do just that by working with our southern Oregon legislative delegation to secure transportation infrastructure funding to improve our Valley’s air quality, recognize the need for disaster preparedness and overall livability. At the same time, we are playing a significant part in the fight against unfair and frankly predatory business taxes so we will better economy.
Finally, following the many accolades The Chamber has received for various programs and services, such as the Business Review, The Directory, area maps, our highly successful Forum, Leadership, Greeters, Ambassadors Red, White & BOOM programs and many more accomplishments, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous support from our many gracious sponsors as well as each and every one of The Chamber’s members: You are greatly appreciated!
Thanks for all you do!
