Future First Citizen Scholarship

The Future First Citizen Scholarship scholarship program was developed to honor the late Bill Haas, former Chamber Executive and community visionary for Jackson County. Umpqua Bank initiated the scholarship in 2004, and it is now a community wide effort thanks to The Chamber of Medford/Jackson County and the following local businesses: Adroit Construction, Batzer Incorporated, Burrill Real Estate, Eastman Kodak, LTM Incorporated, Moss Adams, Regence BlueCross BlueShield, S & B James Construction, Southern Oregon Goodwill Industries and Umpqua Bank. Together, these businesses have sponsored $14,000 in scholarships.

The scholarship recognizes top students from Rogue Valley high schools who, throughout their high school careers, have clearly demonstrated their leadership abilities in community involvement and school extracurricular activities. These attributes are consistent with a Future First Citizen of the Rogue Valley.

As a community, we recognize that too many times it is the troubled kids who get the press’ attention. We feel that it is time to recognize and reward the good kids, those who strive to help their community and themselves through higher education. This scholarship fund is geared toward helping those kids attain that higher level of education.
